A Heritage of Trust Since 1901
Our journey in the Nilgiris, the Blue Mountains of Tamil Nadu, began in the early 1900s.
Our predecessors came to the Nilgiris as regimental bankers serving the British, establishing strong relationships with the tea estates and the growing commercial community of the region. The family later expanded into the textile trade under the name JASRAJ PABOODAN.
Our close association with the tea gardens of the Nilgiris naturally led us into the tea business. In 1901, Oswal Tea Syndicate was established, marking the beginning of a long association with the tea industry.
For more than five decades, we were involved in the export and domestic trade of Indian teas, exporting to markets including Sudan, Egypt, the U.S.S.R. and the United Kingdom, while also supplying tea to some of India's leading companies, including Lipton's and Brook Bond.
Today, our tea business continues through Suresh & Company, serving both Indian and international markets.
A Tradition of Essential Oils
In 1920, we established the Jain Eucalyptus Oil Factory, marking our entry into the manufacture, distillation and trade of essential oils.
Over the years, we manufactured and traded oils including Eucalyptus, Geranium and Wintergreen, supplying several respected organisations and businesses, including Tata Oil Mills, HLL, S.H. Kelkar, Nogi & Co. and Bytco & Co.
Our experience in natural oils has continued to grow, and today we deal in a wider range of essential and aromatherapy oils.
From Ayurveda to Herbal Products
Our late grandfather, Mr. P. Gulabchand Chordia, was an accomplished Ayurvedic practitioner who prepared and dispensed Ayurvedic medicines.
His knowledge and experience in traditional formulations became the foundation for our family's later work in herbal cosmetics and natural products.
This activity was formalised in 1981 under the name Jain Ayurvedics, through which we began manufacturing and trading herbal and Ayurvedic-inspired products.
Oswal Syndicate
In 2005, we re-established Oswal Syndicate, bringing together our experience in the trade of essential oils, aromatherapy products, herbal products and teas.
Our business today builds upon more than a century of experience in the Nilgiris—across tea, natural oils and traditional herbal products.
